Drill & Blast Engineer

About the role

Join the Mount Pleasant mining operation as a Drill & Blast Engineer reporting to the Technical Services Manager. You will design drill and blast patterns, manage loading, and collaborate with the mine planning team to support the execution of the mine plan.

Key responsibilities

• Design drill patterns and loading/tie‑up schemes to maximise fragmentation.
• Develop weekly drill and blast schedules and order explosives.
• Perform blast reconciliations, communicate results and adjust plans with the wider team.
• Collaborate with planners to optimise coal flow and continuously improve drill‑and‑blast processes.
• Maintain strong relationships with the drill and blast crew and uphold safety procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years’ site experience in operational mining engineering, preferably open‑cut.
• Proactive attitude, strong work ethic and commitment to health and safety.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a small team environment.

Required skills

• Experience with Blast Logic software.
• Experience with Vulcan or similar blast design software.
