Dog Groomer – Casual Position

About the role

Gentle Paws is looking for an experienced and caring Dog Groomer to join our team on a casual basis. Based in North Perth, WA, you will work in a supportive environment that values animal welfare and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing and styling for dogs of various breeds and sizes.
• Assess skin and coat condition and report any health concerns to veterinary staff.
• Handle dogs safely and confidently, providing comfort throughout the grooming process.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic grooming area and sterilise all equipment and tools.
• Communicate with clients to understand grooming preferences and offer professional advice.
• Keep accurate records of services performed, special requirements and health notes.
• Provide emotional support to nervous or anxious dogs.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation of the facility.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification or certification in dog grooming, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience grooming dogs of various breeds and coat types.
• Strong knowledge of animal handling techniques and welfare best practices.
• Physical fitness to stand for long periods and lift dogs safely.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional manner with clients.
• Genuine passion for animal welfare and high‑quality care.
• Reliability and flexibility for casual shift scheduling.
• First‑aid certification for animals is desirable but not essential.
