Diverse Care Home Care Worker

About the role

Southern Migrant and Refugee Centre (SMRC) is seeking Home Care Workers to provide culturally appropriate in-home support to older people living in the Greater Dandenong, Monash, Kingston, Casey and Cardinia areas. The role is based in private homes in the community, reports to the Team Leader Workforce and is a casual position.

The worker delivers care according to each client's individualised care plan, promoting independence, quality of life and wellbeing. Tasks may include monitoring and reporting on client health and wellbeing, providing transportation, assisting with domestic tasks, delivering personal care, preparing meals and supporting health and wellness activities. All duties follow SMRC policies and the Aged Care Quality Standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver care in line with each client's care plan, tailored to their needs and preferences
• Encourage client participation in care activities and help them maintain practical skills
• Observe and report changes in a client's behaviour, health, needs or circumstances to the Coordinator
• Uphold clients' dignity, rights and confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries
• Follow infection control practices and SMRC policies, and keep qualifications and compliance records up to date
• Complete detailed case notes at the end of every shift

Required profile

• Ability to speak one of the listed languages: Dari, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic (Lebanese) or Vietnamese
• Casual employment status
