Director of People & Culture

About the role

The Hoxton is opening its first Australian hotel in Melbourne and needs a senior HR leader to build the People & Culture function from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement HR policies, contracts, systems and the full employee experience.
• Lead a high‑volume pre‑opening recruitment campaign to attract top hospitality talent.
• Ensure compliance with the Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, relevant Awards and Victorian long‑service leave.
• Embed The Hoxton values, drive talent development, oversee OH&S, wellbeing and community initiatives.

Required profile

• Senior HR generalist experience in hospitality with credibility to advise senior leadership.
• Strong, current knowledge of Australian employment law and award interpretation (non‑negotiable).
• Proven ability to handle employee relations, performance management and Fair Work matters.
• Passion for people development and innovative ideas.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of Australian employment legislation and Awards.
• Experience managing large‑scale recruitment for hotel pre‑openings.
