Director of Operations (Health Manager Level 5)

About the role

Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital, formed in 1882, is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and principal provider of specialist healthcare. The Director of Operations provides executive leadership across the hospital under the delegated authority of the General Manager, driving organisational performance, operational excellence and strategic initiatives that support high-quality, patient-centred care. The role leads the Director of Operations portfolio, exercises a high level of clinical expertise and works closely with the RPA Executive.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, guide and manage the Director of Operations portfolio, providing strategic and operational leadership.
• Ensure safe, high-quality patient care consistent with NSW Health and Sydney Local Health District policies, procedures and standards.
• Provide strategic leadership on complex organisational matters.
• Work closely with the RPA Executive to achieve strategic priorities and performance outcomes.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in health service management with a clinical background, or equivalent work experience in clinical operations, or a combination of study and work experience.
• High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling sound decision-making and creative solutions to complex issues.
• Proven ability to manage and resolve strategic, policy and operational issues and performance management systems.

• Permanent full-time position, 40 hours per week, with remuneration of $180,279 - $201,662 per annum plus superannuation.
