Director of Boarding

About the role

Catholic Education Cairns is recruiting a Director of Boarding for St Augustine's College, a Catholic college for boys (Years 7-12) in the Marist tradition in Cairns, Queensland. The position is a fixed-term leadership appointment starting 18 January 2027, lasting five years, and carries a substantive permanent teaching position within the Diocese of Cairns. It is paid according to the Senior Leadership Salary Scale (AUD 149,763 to 157,119 FTE gross per annum).

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the overall leadership and management of the boarding school in partnership with staff, parents and students.
• Ensure the boarding program promotes achievement and wellbeing in a family spirit.
• Develop a contemporary, flexible boarding program for boys at St Augustine's College and girls at St Monica's College, with strategies and opportunities for students to reach their potential.
• Implement the program so that students, parents and staff feel welcomed, valued, nurtured and inspired.
• Maintain consistency of policy and practice in line with the College's pedagogical framework.
• Foster commitment to the College's Strategic Plan across the community.

Required profile

• Commitment to the sacramental life of the Church and to Catholic education.
• Professional qualifications in Education and Religion, as per the Queensland Catholic Education Commission position statement for senior leadership roles.
• Demonstrated ability in religious and education leadership, administration, interpersonal relationships and curriculum development, including Religious Education.
• High-order written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to pastoral care and to promoting child safety at all times.
• Registered or eligible to register with the Queensland College of Teachers, current driver's licence, and a strong commitment to the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education.
