Director, Graduate Research School

About the role

The University of Queensland is looking for a Director of its Graduate Research School, based at the St Lucia Campus. It is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 5 years. As Director, you will lead the professional services that support more than 4,000 higher degree by research candidates, working closely with the Dean and Deputy Dean to set strategy, strengthen service delivery and position the School's people, resources and operations for excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the professional services for graduate research candidates from their first enquiry through to thesis submission and beyond.
• Set strategic direction and strengthen service delivery in partnership with the Dean and Deputy Dean.
• Build trusted partnerships across the University and champion purposeful innovation.
• Lead an accomplished and committed professional team and influence the wider graduate research ecosystem.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualifications and extensive senior management experience in a large, complex organisation, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience.
• Proven success in strategic and operational planning, resource and workforce leadership, complex service delivery, business transformation and cultural change.
• Credible, collaborative and purposeful, able to build confidence across diverse stakeholders and guide people through change.
• Highly developed analytical, interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of the appointment; employer-sponsored work rights are not available.
