Director, Environment and Planning (Queensland)

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a senior leader to head its Queensland Environment and Planning team. You will guide multidisciplinary projects across transport, energy, water, land and government sectors, delivering strategic advice and technical assessments that shape infrastructure investment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead identification, pursuit and delivery of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and technical assessments under Queensland and Commonwealth legislation.
• Advise clients on approval pathways, risks and opportunities, managing complex EIS projects across multiple sectors.
• Coordinate technical studies, engage with regulatory agencies and negotiate outcomes.
• Prepare high‑quality proposals and maintain trusted client relationships.
• Partner with senior leadership to grow the client base and expand EIS capability nationally.
• Own project delivery, including scope, budget and schedule management.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid‑level consultants.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, planning, engineering or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience delivering EISs under the EPBC Act and Queensland environmental legislation.
• Proven senior leadership and client‑facing skills.
• Ability to manage large, multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
