Director – Consumer & Fair Trading (EL2)

About the role

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is seeking a senior leader to head its Consumer and Fair Trading Division. This role will drive compliance and enforcement activities that protect consumers and promote fair trading across the Australian economy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of complex projects and investigations under the Australian Consumer Law.
• Manage and develop a team of professionals, fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment.
• Support the General Manager as part of the division’s leadership team.
• Ensure strategic focus and high‑quality conduct of all enforcement activities.
• Facilitate career development, provide coaching, and resolve conflicts within the team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in consumer law, compliance or enforcement at a senior level.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion and collaborative working.
