Director – Civil Engineering Lead I Energy

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Director‑level leader to provide civil engineering expertise for transmission and distribution projects across Australia and New Zealand. You will guide design and delivery teams, shaping technical frameworks for large‑scale, high‑voltage energy infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead civil design and delivery for transmission towers, substations, site access, drainage, stormwater, foundations and bulk earthworks.
• Provide technical assurance, project verification and sign‑off for civil engineering components.
• Build client relationships, run workshops and act as a trusted advisor on civil engineering matters.
• Mentor and develop junior civil engineers, potentially taking on people‑leadership duties as the team expands.

Required profile

• 15+ years of civil engineering experience in power transmission, distribution or related energy infrastructure.
• Registration on the National Engineering Register in Australia (RPEV or RPEQ), preferably with Chartered Professional Engineer status.
• Proven ability to manage projects from concept through delivery, including brownfield and greenfield sites.
• Strong client‑facing and commercial judgement skills.

Required skills

• Civil design for site and roading access, drainage and stormwater systems.
• Geotechnical and foundation engineering, bulk earthworks, trenching and installation.
• Design of civil works for substations, transformers, bunding and site buildings.
• Technical leadership and governance of civil engineering deliverables.
