Director Business Improvement & Performance

About the role

The WA State Government agency is looking for a Director of Business Improvement & Performance to lead continuous improvement, governance and performance initiatives across finance, procurement and corporate services. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will shape strategy, ensure compliance and provide executive‑level insights.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement business improvement and performance frameworks.
• Conduct end‑to‑end process reviews to meet legislative and policy requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across corporate services functions.
• Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
• Ensure financial management controls, governance frameworks and compliance with the Financial Management Act and public sector standards.
• Coordinate audit responses, investigations and risk‑management activities.
• Deliver high‑quality reporting to support executive decision‑making.
• Collaborate with business units to resolve complex operational and policy issues.
• Represent the division on committees and working groups.
• Develop performance metrics, reporting frameworks and data‑driven insights.

Required profile

• Strategic, outcomes‑driven leader with extensive experience in corporate services, finance or governance.
• Proven ability to lead complex business improvement initiatives in large organisations.
• Strong knowledge of public‑sector financial frameworks and compliance requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification such as Business or Commerce.
