Director, Banking Financial Risk Management

About the role

Deloitte is recruiting a Director for its banking financial risk offering in Sydney or Melbourne, within the Assurance practice. The role leads and grows the credit risk modelling and analytics, model risk management and AI model assurance offering for Australia's major financial institutions, combining deep quantitative risk expertise with client leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex, client-facing financial risk engagements on credit risk modelling and analytics, covering IRB, ECL and stress testing, including model development, validation and external/internal audit reviews.
• Advise on model risk governance frameworks, review provisioning methodologies and assess prudential compliance.
• Explore how AI and machine learning are used to improve risk decisioning and model robustness.
• Engage with senior client stakeholders on complex risk and regulatory matters, helping clients respond to regulatory scrutiny.
• Build and nurture client relationships, pursue new business and shape the future direction of the banking financial risk offering.
• Lead, mentor and develop high-performing teams.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in banking financial risk, credit risk modelling, model risk management and AI risk frameworks, including PD, LGD, EAD models and AI/ML-enabled models.
• Experience advising on provisioning frameworks, prudential compliance, credit decisioning and the integration of AI methodologies.
• Proven track record of leading complex client engagements in consulting, professional services, banking or large financial institutions.
• Leadership of teams and mentoring, with commercial acumen and ambition to grow the financial risk offering.
