Director, Account Management - Retail

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a commercially‑minded leader to head its Retail Account Management portfolio in Australia. Reporting to the Digital & Retail Partnerships team, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior executives of the country’s largest retailers, helping them unlock growth through payments innovation and Mastercard’s broader capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Own and expand a portfolio of strategic retail partnerships across Australia, serving as the primary executive relationship lead.
• Develop partnership strategies that align Mastercard solutions with client growth objectives.
• Lead senior stakeholder engagement, building trusted, long‑term relationships.
• Identify and drive opportunities across payments acceptance, digital commerce, business payments, technology solutions, loyalty and value‑added services.
• Coordinate cross‑functional Mastercard teams to deliver seamless client experiences.
• Negotiate and manage commercial agreements, partnership plans and strategic initiatives.
• Act as senior escalation point, providing leadership and resolution for complex challenges.
• Deliver portfolio performance targets through effective account planning and execution.
• Lead, coach and develop team members while maintaining direct ownership of key customer relationships.
• Contribute market insights to evolve Mastercard’s retail partnership strategy.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in payments and strong retail acumen.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Executive relationship management experience with large retail clients.
• Commercial leadership and strategic account planning capabilities.
• People‑leadership experience in a player‑coach model.
