Diesel Mechanic - Field Service Technician

About the role

Onetrak, one of Australia's best heavy equipment dealerships, is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Field Service Technician based from its Tumut branch. The role starts in the workshop performing preventative maintenance, repairs and diagnostics on diesel-powered construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers and backhoes, then evolves into field service work. It is a Monday to Friday position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and diagnostics on diesel-powered construction equipment
• Carry out engine overhauls, rebuilds and replacements as needed
• Diagnose issues using computerised diagnostic tools and other equipment
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems
• Follow safety protocols and regulations
• Communicate with customers and provide good customer service
• Maintain accurate and complete service records

Required profile

• Heavy equipment service background in a related industry (construction equipment, mining, forestry, access equipment, forklifts, generators, compressors)
• Relevant trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic
• Proven experience on earthmoving equipment, access equipment, agricultural equipment or trucks
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and diagnostic skills
• Ability to use diagnostic software and strong computer literacy
• Good customer service, communication and time-management skills
