DevOps Engineer - Data Platform

About the role

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to support our data platform within a leading Australian payments business. The role sits in the central DevOps team, setting standards for pipelines, infrastructure as code and security tooling across all engineering squads.

Key responsibilities

• Build and operate the infrastructure used by engineering and data teams, primarily Kubernetes on AWS with some serverless components.
• Own end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, from build definition through deployment, establishing standards for other squads.
• Write infrastructure as code using Terraform, OpenTofu or CDK, ensuring everything is managed as code.
• Collaborate with security engineers to implement tooling and maintain secure, auditable configurations.
• Automate routine tasks and leverage AI-assisted tooling to improve efficiency.
• Take ownership of a specific area of the platform and become the go-to expert for that domain.

Required profile

• Strong hands-on DevOps experience with AWS as the primary cloud.
• Daily experience with container platforms such as EKS or ECS and Kubernetes.
• Infrastructure-as-code mindset, having built and owned CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to script in Python or Bash for automation.
• Confidence to tackle unfamiliar challenges and deliver solutions.
• Experience with Kafka/Confluent, Datadog, GitLab CI, or work in a regulated financial environment is a plus but not mandatory.

• Competitive salary range $150,000‑$170,000 plus superannuation.
