Department Manager - Yeppoon QLD

About the role

Bunnings is recruiting a Department Manager for its Underwood store in Yeppoon, Queensland. You will lead a team of 20+ people and be responsible for the day-to-day operations, sales and high-volume stock management of your specialist department, working alongside other Department Managers and reporting to the Operations Manager and Complex Manager. The role includes a minimum of 1 in 3 weekend rosters and some public holiday work.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 20+ to keep the workplace engaged and safe, and act as duty manager, opening and closing the store across weekdays and weekends
• Develop team capability in Best Experience and Safety Culture and Compliance, including engagement, performance management and recognition
• Plan and roster the team and drive department sales through merchandising and monitoring of key metrics
• Act on customer feedback to improve the customer experience
• Manage department stock accuracy, including adjustments, replenishment and loss prevention
• Monitor customer service levels, liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership and Health and Safety, and build strong supplier relationships

Required profile

• Previous experience leading teams in retail or a large, high-volume customer-focused organisation
• Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills, and the ability to wear many hats and influence stakeholders
• Ability to champion a safe and secure environment and model safety leadership
• Experience opening and closing the store and supporting smooth trade across weekdays and weekends
• Understanding of KPIs and customer expectations
• Age 15 or over; background checks may be required after an offer
