Dental Assistant

About the role

A four-dentist general and restorative dentistry practice in Chinchilla, part of the Abano Healthcare network, is looking for an experienced dental assistant. The role suits someone who takes pride in a well-run surgery and a calm patient experience, working chairside alongside the dentists and with the hygiene team, practice manager and front desk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance across general, restorative and preventive treatments, including check-ups, fillings, crowns, root canal treatment and extractions
• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and materials before each appointment
• Clean, sterilise and reprocess instruments in line with ADA infection control guidelines
• Keep anxious patients comfortable and informed
• Update clinical notes and chart in the practice management software
• Help with stock control and ordering for the surgery

Required profile

• Previous experience as a dental assistant and/or a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or higher)
• Sound knowledge of infection control and sterilisation protocols
• Right to work in Australia
• Willingness to share experience with newer team members

Required skills

• Confidence using dental practice management software
• Reassuring manner with nervous patients
• Communication and organisational skills
