Data Engineer

About the role

VicRoads is looking for a Data Engineer to join its Data Engineering & Platforms team within the Technology Operations division. The role will design, build and maintain scalable, secure data pipelines that power the organisation’s data platform and enable analytics, reporting and business insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest and transform data from multiple source systems.
• Ensure data quality, security and compliance with governance standards.
• Collaborate with data analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute reusable components, documentation and best‑practice standards to improve data processes.
• Support ongoing monitoring and optimisation of data workflows.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience building and operating data pipelines in a production environment.
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with clear communication abilities.
