Data Assistant – Reporting & Analytics

About the role

Join Rural Affinity’s Data Team as a Data Assistant, supporting accurate and reliable reporting across the organisation. You will work closely with the Data Lead and business stakeholders to turn data into actionable insight while developing your technical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for data and reporting requests, triage and prioritize the queue, resolve routine requests and escalate complex analysis.
• Assist in developing and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards for all business units.
• Deliver recurring and ad‑hoc reports on time, applying validation and reconciliation checks.
• Support data pipeline maintenance, investigate data issues and ensure high data quality.
• Document report logic, data definitions and business rules for consistency.
• Build understanding of Rural Affinity’s data sources, systems, products and insurance fundamentals.
• Develop technical capability in SQL and Python or R with guidance from the Data Team.
• Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes and stakeholder experience.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders across the business.
• Organisational ability to manage competing priorities and reporting deadlines.
• Logical problem‑solving approach with the judgement to know when to escalate issues.
• Genuine interest in insurance and financial services.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau or similar visualisation tools.
• Familiarity with a CRM or comparable business system.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Basic proficiency in Python or R.
