Data Analyst – Workday Transformation (12-month contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Analyst to support a major Workday transformation for a large financial services organisation. The role is a 12‑month contract, based in Sydney with a hybrid work model, and will focus on data quality, migration and reporting across HR, Payroll and Finance.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse, cleanse, enrich and validate employee, payroll and organisational data; investigate and resolve data quality issues across multiple source systems.
• Create workforce reporting and insights such as starters and leavers, turnover, workforce movements, position management and organisational structures.
• Support end‑to‑end migration of HR, Payroll and Finance data into Workday, including data extraction, source‑to‑target mapping, dataset preparation, reconciliation and cut‑over activities.
• Engage with HR, Payroll, Finance and project stakeholders, collaborate with implementation partners, and act as the key data SME in design workshops.
• Develop SQL queries, manipulate large datasets using Excel, build dashboards and reports, and assist in developing migration logic and extraction processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, HR Data Analyst, Data Migration Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
• Involvement in ERP, HCM, HRIS or Workday implementations.
• Strong background in data cleansing, migration, mapping, validation, reconciliation and quality management.
• Advanced Excel skills and solid SQL capability.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Highly desirable: prior Workday implementation experience, exposure to Workday HCM/Payroll/Finance, VBA/macros automation, and knowledge of HR data structures.
