Data Analyst

About the role

The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine is seeking a Data Analyst to turn complex datasets into actionable insights that support rural healthcare initiatives and organisational decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse large‑scale datasets from trainee assessments, surveys, membership and transactions using SQL and R (or similar languages) to identify trends and opportunities.
• Develop and maintain regular reporting systems and interactive dashboards with Power BI and Quarto/R Markdown.
• Respond to internal and external data requests, delivering timely insights while upholding data security standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand data needs and create tailored analytical solutions.
• Produce clear visualisations that communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a data‑driven role.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to translate complex analyses into actionable insights.
• Eligibility to live and work in Australia.

Required skills

• SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
• R programming (or willingness to learn quickly).
• Power BI for dashboard creation.
• Quarto or R Markdown for reporting.
• Understanding of data security principles, including access control and anonymisation.
