Data Analyst Intern

About the role

An established Melbourne-based managed IT services provider is seeking a motivated Data Analyst Intern to support data analysis, business reporting, CRM data management and workflow improvement. The internship lasts 3 months and is unpaid, working under the guidance of the IT Solutions Architect. It suits students or recent graduates who want hands-on experience with data analytics, reporting tools and CRM systems.

Key responsibilities

• Data analysis and reporting: help organise, check and analyse business data, prepare basic reports, spreadsheets and dashboards, use Microsoft Excel and spot simple trends.
• CRM data management: update and maintain customer and business records, check for duplicates and incomplete records, and learn about Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar CRM platforms.
• Reporting tools and process improvement: build basic dashboards and visual reports with tools such as Microsoft Power BI, research ways to improve reporting, and suggest simple workflow improvements.
• Team collaboration: gather information for reports, help write documentation and user guides, share findings, and follow data privacy and confidentiality guidelines.

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently graduated in Data Analytics, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and clear written and verbal communication.
• Organised, proactive and able to learn new systems and work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel, including data organisation, formulas and reporting.
• Desirable: familiarity with SQL and database concepts, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics 365, the Power Platform (including Power Automate), and university projects involving data analysis or dashboards.
