Cyber Security Engineering Lead

About the role

As the Cyber Security Engineering Lead at TasWater, you will safeguard both IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments that support essential water and sewerage services for Tasmania. You will provide technical leadership, drive security‑by‑design, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted cyber security advisor, building relationships with internal and external stakeholders and representing the cyber security function across the organisation.
• Partner with project and technology teams to embed security‑by‑design principles throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Lead cyber incident response and recovery activities, containing threats, remediating issues and enhancing organisational resilience.
• Drive implementation and continuous improvement of security controls across IT and OT environments.
• Identify, assess and manage cyber security risks through vulnerability management, security assurance activities and proactive threat mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory obligations, industry standards and the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act while fostering a strong culture of cyber security awareness.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cyber security engineering within complex IT and OT environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead security initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills to act as a trusted advisor.
• Track record of managing incident response, vulnerability management and risk mitigation.
