Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

The Cyber Security Engineer will design, implement and refine security solutions that protect critical systems, data and assets across cloud and on‑premise environments. This role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking to embed security into the core of IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of secure information systems, including upgrades of legacy platforms.
• Conduct product research, analysis of alternatives and develop security roadmaps and investment plans.
• Mentor and guide senior, mid‑level and junior security engineers to ensure best‑practice delivery.
• Engineer secure solutions for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments while ensuring DoD/Federal compliance.
• Develop and implement cybersecurity solutions for big‑data environments using automation, AI and advanced tooling.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of experience (or Master’s with 6‑8 years) designing secure system architectures.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary security teams on complex projects.
• Deep knowledge of threat actor tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and experience with intrusion detection and threat‑hunting tools.
• Ability to obtain and retain a Top‑Secret (TS/SCI) clearance with polygraph.

Required skills

• SIEM platforms such as Splunk, Elastic, QRadar.
• IDS/IPS tools like Snort and Suricata.
• Network protocol expertise (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, HTTPS).
• Threat intelligence platforms (MISP, STIX/TAXII) and integration into detection systems.
• Cloud security design for hybrid and multi‑cloud architectures.
• Automation and AI‑enhanced security tooling.
