Cyber Security Analyst – Canberra (NV1 Clearance)

About the role

This contract role supports a government department in Canberra, requiring NV1 security clearance. You will review and develop security documentation, conduct risk assessments, and advise on system designs to ensure compliance with Australian government security frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSP) and related documentation.
• Perform security risk assessments of ICT systems, Azure Cloud, legacy environments, AI technologies and complex solutions in line with PSPF and ISM.
• Provide guidance on application and system designs based on PSPF, ISM and the Essential Eight.
• Liaise with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to communicate risks and recommendations.
• Present risk assessment findings to senior executives.
• Identify opportunities to improve the department’s security posture.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement security solutions and ensure compliance with government standards.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years’ experience conducting security risk assessments within a government cyber team.
• Experience with Azure Cloud, legacy ICT systems, AI technology and complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight and networking infrastructure.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, manage a large workload and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
