Curator + Program Manager

About the role

Canberra Contemporary is looking for a Curator + Program Manager to join its small, dedicated team and help shape contemporary art in Kamberri/Canberra. This is an ongoing 0.8 FTE part-time position (30 hours per week) combining curatorial and gallery management duties, based across the gallery's two spaces with occasional offsite work. It reports to the Artistic Director and CEO.

Key responsibilities

• Curate in-house exhibitions and special projects with partner organisations, and support artists and external curators on ambitious artistic projects and public programs
• Manage all aspects of exhibition work: program planning and delivery, install and deinstall, exhibition and loan agreements, freight logistics, project budgets and technical support
• Support the team on other operational duties as required, such as supervising casual staff, mentoring emerging artists, research and writing, catalogue design and production, building maintenance, WHS and event technology

• Someone who thrives in a small team and contributes to a workplace culture that supports diverse views and lived experiences
• Relationship-building with artists and curators, independent work to project deadlines and collaborative work with internal and external stakeholders
• An early-career or mid-career curator ready to bring fresh ideas to practice

What we offer

• Salary of $68,000 to $72,000 per annum (pro rata on a full-time basis of $85,000 to $90,000) plus 12% superannuation
• Part-time 30-hour week with flexible evening or weekend hours
• 6-month probation period
