Cost Controller – Oil & Gas Project

About the role

UGL is looking for an experienced Cost Controller to join its Perth team on an ongoing basis, supporting a major oil & gas project. You will work a 5/2 roster in the CBD, collaborating closely with Project Controls and Execution teams to keep project costs aligned with approved budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD) reports to the client.
• Monitor project budgets, provide weekly status updates on commitments and forecasted final costs (FFC), and flag potential risks.
• Manage change requests using the Site ROC Register, ensuring compliance with client Total Cost of Ownership (TCE) guidelines.
• Prepare target cost estimate performance reviews and ensure all costs are booked to the correct cost codes and CTR.
• Track and analyse material, plant, tooling, and equipment costs against budget.
• Conduct regular audits with Finance to verify and adjust cost entries in SAP and Track’em.
• Review off‑site resource time allocations and coordinate approvals in Track’em.
• Vet incoming invoices for correct coding, match to purchase orders, and liaise with accounts payable.
• Support the Financial Analyst in creating contractors’ monthly invoices and related data.
• Develop, revise, and communicate cost‑control procedures for accurate, real‑time reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 + years of project controls experience, including at least 2 years as a Cost Controller.
• Experience in commercial environments, preferably within industrial services, mining, or oil & gas.
• Strong understanding of industry standards, best practices, and safety culture.
• Excellent communication skills and a flexible, responsible attitude.
