Corporate Lawyer – Retail (Senior)

About the role

ANZ’s Retail Legal team is seeking a Corporate Lawyer (Senior) to shape the future of retail banking products and services. The role involves providing strategic legal advice across digital and traditional channels, ensuring compliance and supporting innovative customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide proactive legal advice on the design, development, implementation and operation of digital products, customer propositions and retail financial services.
• Advise on complex regulatory matters such as consumer protection, credit, privacy, data use and digital delivery.
• Collaborate with product, technology, risk, compliance and business teams to identify legal issues early and develop practical solutions.
• Support strategic transformation, regulatory change, growth initiatives and customer migration projects.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulatory obligations, manage incidents and potential breaches.
• Draft, review and negotiate customer terms, disclosures, contracts and related documentation.
• Assist in creating clear and effective customer communications and explain legal implications for projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of legal processes and controls.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with significant experience in retail financial services or banking law.
• Strong understanding of consumer protection, credit, privacy and data regulations.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑moving environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on practical outcomes.
