Copyright Assistant (Hybrid, Sydney)

About the role

Kobalt Music is seeking a proactive Copyright Assistant to support the global song registration process for its clients in Australia and New Zealand. Working in a hybrid model, you will help ensure that repertoire is correctly registered so royalties flow from live performances, radio, and streaming.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with Performing Rights Organisations (PROs) and Collective Management Organisations (CMOs) in the Asia‑Pacific region, particularly APRA AMCOS.
• Collaborate across time zones with teams in Hong Kong, London, and the US to uphold best practices for song and agreement registrations.
• Communicate claims on Kobalt’s repertoire with societies, publishers, and other stakeholders.
• Support the Writer & Publisher Relations department with registration submissions, dispute management, and catalogue maintenance.
• Identify and resolve registration issues or delays that could affect royalty collections.
• Participate in side projects such as compiling and distributing song charts to internal teams.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to work to tight deadlines.
• Strong interest in data, systems, and technology platforms.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with external organisations and internal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and analysis.
