Contracts Inspector - Civil

About the role

Unitywater is hiring a Contracts Inspector Civil for a 12-month fixed-term contract covering the Sunshine Coast / Moreton Bay region. You will oversee contractor-delivered water and wastewater infrastructure projects, acting as the eyes and ears on site while reporting to the Quality Assurance Team Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor contractor-delivered civil works across water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Ensure construction complies with approved designs, specifications, standards and legislative requirements
• Carry out quality inspections, audits and testing, and witness key hold points
• Review drawings, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and project documentation
• Assess contractor claims, variations and progress payments
• Support defect inspections, commissioning and project handover, and capture accurate as-constructed information and survey data
• Build relationships with contractors, consultants, stakeholders and the community, and contribute to continuous improvement

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in construction, civil or a related discipline
• Experience overseeing contractors and coordinating construction in a field-based environment
• Experience delivering capital infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of civil construction specifications, standards and QA processes, and of water and wastewater construction techniques
• Current C Class driver's licence

Required skills

• Understanding of engineering principles, documentation and construction delivery practices
• Strong written communication, including progress reports
• Stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
