Contracts Consultant (Freelance)

About the role

Join Carta Law’s Contracts – APAC team as a Freelance Consultant, handling high‑volume pre‑M&A contracts for sophisticated investment fund and asset‑manager clients. You will work closely with lawyers, paralegals and AI‑backed tools to deliver fast, high‑quality legal services.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate and manage large volumes of NDAs, confidentiality agreements, NRLs, joinders and engagement letters, meeting agreed turnaround times.
• Serve as the primary day‑to‑day contact for clients, building trusted advisor relationships.
• Maintain and update client playbooks to ensure consistency across negotiations.
• Mentor junior lawyers and paralegals, reviewing their work and fostering a high‑performing team culture.
• Identify improvements to Carta’s legal technology suite, leveraging AI‑backed tools.

Required profile

• 6‑8+ years post‑qualification experience in transactional law, independently negotiating pre‑M&A contracts.
• Experience working with asset managers, investment banks or similar financial‑services firms.
• Law degree and license to practice in any APAC jurisdiction.
• Based in an APAC time zone and comfortable with fast‑paced, client‑focused environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AI tools and legal technology platforms such as HighQ.
• Strong commercial mindset and ability to communicate legal advice concisely.
