Consultant, Environment and Planning

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Consultant in Environment and Planning to join its Mackay team. You will support the delivery of environmental impact assessments, ecological surveys and approvals for a range of infrastructure projects across defence, renewable energy, transport and other sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and environmental approvals.
• Conduct flora and fauna surveys and produce ecological assessments.
• Prepare high‑quality ecological reports and technical documentation.
• Work alongside project managers and specialists on nationally significant infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve practical environmental outcomes.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience in ecology, environmental planning or approvals.
• Relevant qualification in environmental science, ecology or a related discipline.
• Experience with GIS software and knowledge of the EPBC Act; Queensland legislation is highly regarded.
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and report‑writing abilities.
• Four‑wheel‑drive and First Aid certifications are desirable; defence sector experience and Australian citizenship are advantageous.
