Shield AI is a venture‑backed defense‑tech company developing autonomous platforms. We are seeking a Computer Vision Engineer (C++) to join our Port Melbourne team and create real‑time perception solutions for next‑generation autonomous systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement novel computer vision algorithms from scratch, optimized for real‑time performance.
• Develop and maintain C++‑based computer vision pipelines within autonomous mission systems.
• Collaborate with AI, robotics, and optical engineers to deliver reliable edge solutions.
• Integrate deep‑learning models into broader computer vision systems.
• Stay current with academic research and emerging techniques in computer vision and machine learning.

Required profile

• Deep proficiency in C++ and experience in high‑performance, real‑time environments.
• Strong background in writing custom computer vision algorithms beyond library usage.
• Solid understanding of computer vision, image processing, and machine learning principles.

Required skills

• C++ programming.
• Custom computer vision algorithm development.

• Familiarity with OpenCV and similar vision toolkits.
• Experience with deep learning for image classification, recognition, or sequence modelling.
