Compliance Engineer – Asset Integrity & Risk Management

About the role

Fortescue is seeking a Compliance Engineer to join its Engineering team in Port Hedland. The role will act as the subject‑matter expert for tank compliance and risk management, ensuring the integrity, safety and regulatory compliance of key assets across mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Champion a safety‑first culture and ensure all designs, repairs and maintenance meet statutory and company standards.
• Lead site‑wide compliance audits, inspections and performance reviews, acting as the primary contact for compliance and risk matters.
• Maintain SAP records and internal asset‑integrity registers, coordinating third‑party inspection providers and managing QA/QC activities.
• Review inspection findings against codes and standards, develop remediation scopes and provide technical recommendations.
• Drive continuous improvement of inspection methodologies, work procedures and operational readiness activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering.
• API 653 and/or AICIP certification.
• Proven experience in design, inspection, installation, repair and maintenance within mining or heavy industry.
• Experience managing risk and compliance programmes, with a current manual driver’s licence.
• Strong analytical, report‑writing and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
