Community Visit Volunteer – Social Visitor

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity that supports people to live in their homes and maintain their independence, is looking for a Community Visit Volunteer in Thirlmere. The role is a social visit with an elderly woman living independently in her retirement village home who enjoys country music, puzzles and sharing stories. Visits are warm, patient conversations over a cup of tea, and preferred times are between 10:00am and 2:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client regularly and share a friendly, engaging conversation.
• Listen attentively and bring warmth and patience to each visit.
• Help improve the quality of life of older people and reduce their sense of isolation.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• Enjoys listening and values connection; able to bring warmth, patience and engaging conversation to regular visits.
• Willingness to visit between 10:00am and 2:00pm on a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.
