Community Social Volunteer

About the role

HammondCare, an independent Christian charity providing the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme funded by the Australian Government, is looking for a friendly social volunteer in Medowie. The volunteer spends time with a client who enjoys good company, whether chatting over a cuppa or going for a relaxing drive. The client has a creative spirit and enjoys gardening, animals and crafts such as knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing and card-making, and values music, especially jazz and classical, as well as British television programs on ABC and SBS.

Key responsibilities

• Visit the client regularly to share a conversation and common interests, such as a chat over tea or coffee.
• Help reduce social isolation and brighten someone's day through meaningful interaction.
• Visit between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday, for about an hour; frequency depends on availability, from weekly to fortnightly.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
