Community Ranger – Katherine

About the role

Katherine Town Council is looking for a proactive Ranger to join its Infrastructure and Environment team. The role involves protecting community safety, supporting animal management, enforcing local laws and helping keep the municipality clean and safe.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce Council local laws, regulations and policies.
• Undertake animal management and pound operations.
• Investigate complaints, including nuisance animals and parking matters.
• Conduct patrols and issue infringement notices where required.
• Provide community education and advice.
• Prepare reports, briefs of evidence and attend court when required.
• Support community safety and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar Ranger, compliance or regulatory role.
• Strong communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation.
• Confidence working independently and in challenging situations.
• Enjoyment of outdoor work and community engagement.
