Community Occupational Therapist - Regional Victoria

About the role

A regional health service in Victoria, about 2 hours from Melbourne, is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for a 6-month fixed term contract within its Rural Allied Health Team. The role is community and home visit based, with some clinic appointments, and focuses on helping frail aged clients and people living with disability stay safe and independent at home.

Key responsibilities

• Home safety and functional assessments
• Home modifications and assistive technology prescription
• Scooter and wheelchair assessments
• Care planning and goal setting to support independent living
• Working with carers, families and multidisciplinary clinicians
• Supporting clients to stay active in their local community
• Collaborating with Allied Health Assistants on therapy programs and equipment trials

Required profile

• Community occupational therapy experience and home visiting experience
• Knowledge of Australian Building Standards
• Familiarity with Geat2GO and SWEP
• AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
• Current driver's licence

Required skills

• Experience with home modifications and equipment prescription
• Strong care planning and independent caseload management
