Communications Advisor

About the role

Hume City Council is seeking a Communications Advisor to join its Strategic Communications team. In this full-time, five-month fixed-term position you will help deliver high-quality communications that connect the community with Council programs, services and initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications plans, campaigns and activities aligned with Council priorities.
• Manage communications projects from briefing through evaluation, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Provide advice on channels, messaging and governance, and create clear, audience-focused content for digital, social, web, internal and external audiences.
• Coordinate integrated communications across multiple platforms to maintain consistency.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a communications partner for assigned portfolios.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on communications performance, offering insights for continuous improvement.
• Identify and escalate potential reputational risks and support issue-management responses.

Required profile

• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven experience planning and delivering multi-channel communications campaigns.
• Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills, capable of translating complex information into engaging content.
• Robust organisational and project-management capabilities, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities.
• Sound judgement regarding reputational and stakeholder considerations.
• Collaborative, proactive approach focused on high-quality, customer-oriented service.
