Commercial Manager - Mission & Support Systems

About the role

Babcock is looking for a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function of its Mission & Support Systems (M&SS) business unit in Henderson, Western Australia. The role partners with business stakeholders across the full contract lifecycle, protecting Babcock's commercial interests, managing risks and meeting contractual obligations while contributing to winning new business, delivering contracts and strengthening customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial support to the M&SS business unit across capture, bid, negotiation and delivery phases
• Act as the commercial interface with customers and key stakeholders
• Lead or support negotiations of contracts, amendments and variations under the Delegation of Authority
• Advise on contract interpretation, obligations, liabilities and risk
• Ensure commercial governance and support Gate approvals and audit readiness
• Identify, assess and manage commercial risks, including mitigation strategies and risk registers
• Work with Procurement & Supply Chain on flow-down of contract terms and risk
• Engage Legal and other corporate specialists where needed
• Contribute to commercial process improvement and share knowledge across the Commercial function

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with a Defence Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one)
• Degree in Business, Commerce, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Typically 8-12+ years in commercial, contracts or related roles in a complex project, Defence or Government environment
• Experience across the contract lifecycle, from bid development to close-out
• Proven stakeholder relationship building and experience in structured governance frameworks and Delegations of Authority
