Commercial Manager

About the role

The Commercial Manager will oversee day‑to‑day commercial operations of construction projects, ensuring profitability and strong client relationships. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide strategic commercial advice and support the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly client progress claims.
• Oversee cost control, forecasting and financial reporting.
• Manage project procurement and site contract administration.
• Administer head contracts and subcontractor agreements.
• Assist with internal and external financial audits.
• Monitor and report on government policy requirements.
• Provide commercial advice and support to the project team.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, Commercial Law or related field.
• Minimum 5 years senior commercial experience in Australian construction or resources, including at least 3 years on the contractor side.
• Proven experience in contract risk, cost and change management, tendering and procurement.
• Strong negotiation track record and ability to settle claims.
• Experience with hard‑dollar/lump‑sum contracts.
• Ability to mentor junior staff.
• Valid Australian driver’s licence, national police clearance and full working rights.
• Willingness to support remote work.
