Commercial Advisor – Pre-Contracts

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Pre‑Contracts Commercial Advisor to help convert a growing pipeline of government and institutional prospects into committed work. You will operate at the intersection of technical and commercial issues across transport, energy, defence, water and the built environment in Queensland and across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial negotiations with clients, industry partners and joint‑venture participants on complex arrangements such as design‑and‑construct, alliances and integrated delivery models.
• Collaborate with in‑house counsel, insurance managers and technical leads to develop winning commercial offers.
• Advise senior leadership on commercial risk, governance and obtain formal commercial approvals.
• Identify and implement improvements to commercial management procedures, templates and products.
• Mentor and develop commercial acumen within the team and across the wider organisation.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in commercial management, law, quantity surveying, engineering or business.
• 8‑12 years of experience in commercial management for built‑environment or infrastructure consultancies, or directly interfacing with them.
• Demonstrated experience on major projects in at least one of the key sectors (transport, energy, defence, water, built environment).
