Cloud Engineer – Design and Optimize AWS & Azure Platforms

About the role

VicRoads is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, implement and support secure, scalable cloud environments across AWS and Azure. You will modernise platforms, improve operational excellence and drive optimisation initiatives that deliver real business value.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS and Azure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Develop automation scripts and tools with Python, Bash, PowerShell and Ansible.
• Implement cloud security best practices, governance controls and compliance standards.
• Drive cost‑optimisation initiatives through resource rightsising, utilisation analysis and FinOps practices.
• Build monitoring, logging, alerting and observability solutions to enhance service reliability.
• Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance.
• Over 7 years of experience designing and supporting cloud environments in AWS and Azure.
• Strong problem‑solving, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
