Cloud DevOps Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud DevOps Engineer to design, build and maintain secure, reliable cloud delivery foundations for a large government department in Brisbane. The role is hands‑on, collaborating with delivery, architecture, security and technology stakeholders in an agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using best‑in‑class practices.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, managing state, locking and modularisation.
• Automate cloud environments on AWS, including VPC, serverless, ECS and IAM.
• Champion DevSecOps/GitOps practices, including secrets management and security hardening.
• Enhance monitoring, observability and incident‑response processes to improve operational resilience.

Required profile

• Strong experience with AWS services and IAM design/implementation.
• Proven DevOps/SRE background covering CI/CD, observability and reliability.
• Hands‑on Terraform expertise and solid scripting abilities (Python, Bash; Java valued, Node.js a bonus).
• Advanced Git knowledge with branching strategies and PR workflows.
• Good networking fundamentals such as DNS, CIDR, subnets, firewalls and load balancing.
