Clinical Receptionist – Part‑time

About the role

Join the front‑line team at Chris O'Brien Lifehouse as a Clinical Receptionist. You will be the first point of contact for patients, families and visitors, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience at the Cancer Oncology and Breast Centre (COBL). The role is available on a part‑time basis, either permanent (16 hrs/week) or fixed‑term (24 hrs/week).

Key responsibilities

• Manage the main reception area, triaging enquiries and directing patients and visitors appropriately.
• Report and act on patient customer‑service issues promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of clinical records while allowing appropriate staff access.
• Use effective questioning to interpret internal and external customer needs and provide flexible solutions.
• Determine patient requirements and deliver high‑standard services in a timely manner.
• Promote a respectful team environment and support colleagues.

Required profile

• Knowledge of hospital billing and receipting procedures, including inpatient, non‑inpatient and Medicare‑ineligible accounts.
• Experience in private‑hospital settings with hospital patient billing systems, health‑fund contracts and eligibility checks.
• Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage debt collection and financial administration.
• Excellent communication, professional telephone manner and teamwork skills.
• Highly organised, proactive with strong time‑management and decision‑making abilities.
