Clinical Nurse – Prison Health

About the role

The Department of Health is seeking a qualified Clinical Nurse to join the Prison Health – Primary Health Care team in Alice Springs. This role provides advanced nursing and midwifery services within a correctional setting, supporting the health and wellbeing of inmates, their families, and the broader community.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced nursing and midwifery knowledge to deliver comprehensive primary health care in a prison environment.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic professional relationships with individuals, families, groups, and communities.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practice.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and safe health services.
• Participate in health promotion, disease prevention, and health education activities.

Required profile

• Postgraduate qualification in nursing or midwifery (essential for ongoing appointment).
• Eligibility for Nurse Level 3 classification.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.

What we offer

• Remuneration package of $131,100 – $139,950 per year (including base salary $111,174 – $119,984).
