Clinical Nurse – Inpatient Mental Health

About the role

The Central Queensland Mental Health Service is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse to lead high‑quality, advanced nursing care in its new 32‑bed Adult Inpatient Mental Health Facility at Rockhampton Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Provide autonomous, advanced nursing care for complex mental health patients.
• Offer clinical direction, mentorship and leadership to RNs, ENs and other nursing staff.
• Lead decision‑making and coordinate safe, person‑centred care.
• Collaborate with the NUM and CNC, manage portfolio responsibilities and step into shift coordination when required.

Required profile

• AHPRA‑registered RN with strong experience caring for people with serious mental illness.
• Mental Health Nursing qualifications or credentialing highly desirable.
• Ability to work independently, navigate complex situations and apply the Queensland Mental Health Act 2016 and national standards.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a commitment to quality improvement, research and safe practice.
