Clinical Nurse Consultant, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist (Forensic Outreach)

About the role

The Community Forensic Outreach Service (CFOS) is a team within the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) that provides high-level clinical risk assessment and therapy for people with mental health needs who have committed, are alleged to have committed or are at risk of committing an offence. Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to deliver mental health care through timely, responsive service provision. The position is full-time, fixed-term, in the Cairns region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support and assistance to treating teams in managing and monitoring patients with complex forensic issues, including a mandated role with Forensic Order patients.
• Undertake specialist risk assessments using structured risk assessment tools and protocols, and write comprehensive reports based on them.
• Follow up with treating teams on implementing recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
• Provide consultation-liaison support, including case conferences, structured case consultations, attendance at and input into team case review meetings, and attendance at Assessment and Risk Management Committee meetings.
