Civil Project Manager (FIFO)

About the role

A rapidly growing civil contractor with a strong pipeline of work is recruiting a Civil Project Manager. The initial project is expected to last about 12 months, but the company wants someone who will stay with the business after it is complete. The role is based in Perth, Brisbane or the Gold Coast and is a FIFO position, with roughly 50% of the time on site and 50% working from home depending on project needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil construction projects, covering planning, execution, monitoring and closure
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and resources
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and standards
• Coordinate and supervise on-site activities and subcontractors
• Build relationships with clients, stakeholders and team members
• Prepare and submit progress reports and documentation
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues
• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in project delivery

Required profile

• Civil Engineering degree
• Proven experience delivering airport/apron projects and/or strong pavement/asphalt experience
• Experience managing civil construction projects from start to finish, on time, within budget and to high quality and safety standards
• Confident leader of engineers, supervisors and project teams
• Comfortable dealing with clients and holding relationships under pressure
• Willingness to mentor engineers into future leaders
• Happy to be site-based and move with the work across QLD, NSW and WA

Required skills

• Programme, cost and delivery management
• Strong understanding of contracts, variations and commercial risk
• Natural commercial awareness and ability to drive project margin
• Exposure to planning tools and earned value / cost tracking systems

What we offer

• Pay of $200,000 to $270,000+ depending on experience, plus flights, accommodation and a company vehicle
• Full ownership of delivery and the space to run a project properly
