Civil Engineering Intern

About the role

A host company in Melbourne is looking for a Civil Engineering Intern. It offers meaningful work experience with strong supervision in a supportive environment, and plans to offer permanent employment to a suitable candidate. The internship lasts 12 weeks and can be done 3, 4 or 5 days per week.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations
• Use computer software to develop detailed designs and carry out complex calculations
• Liaise with clients and professionals such as architects and subcontractors
• Compile job specifications and supervise tendering procedures
• Resolve design and development problems
• Manage budgets and project resources, and schedule material and equipment purchases and deliveries
• Ensure projects comply with legal requirements, especially health and safety
• Assess the sustainability and environmental impact of projects and keep projects on time and within budget

Required profile

• Student of a relevant degree or recent graduate
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Necessary technical and soft skills for the job
• Commitment to a career in the field of study
• Able to work at least 3 days per week
